Media Training for Speakers, Authors, & Entrepreneurs!

Feb 9, 12, 16, 19, 23 26

Tuesdays and  Fridays at 1pm pacific

If you are an author, speaker, business professional, or subject matter expert, interview requests should be pouring in for you on a regular basis.  Opportunities are everywhere — blog-based radio, internet radio, satellite radio, podcasters, and my personal favorite, traditional AM/FM radio.

But the sad truth is that 99% of the people, who are doing interviews on these shows, even though they are in front of their target markets, are blowing tremendous opportunities.

  • If you aren’t getting sign ups;
  • If you aren’t seeing an increase in traffic to your website;
  • If you aren’t being invited back;
  • If you just felt like the interview didn’t sound good; or
  • If you were so scared that you have bruised knees…

You need media training!

I’m seeing a lot of confusion when it comes to the word “interview”.

Most people don’t know how to give an interview.  They just “wing it” and don’t understand why they only see minimal –if any –results after an interview. The select few who truly understand how to leverage the opportunity are those that they know how to build a list, build a stronger brand, and they can sell product, all with minimal effort.

Now, as a traditional FM radio Morning Show host, I am pitched daily by people trying to get interviews…  But as producers and hosts, my colleagues and I are being very selective about what goes to air.  We have to be.

Some of the biggest mistakes people are making:

  1. Not being prepared and not understanding the purpose of an interview
  2. Talking too much…or too little
  3. Not sharing information
  4. Trying to hard to sell, sounding like an infomercial instead of an interview.

Interviews are different than the now famous tele-classes.  YOU MUST UNDERSTAND this or you will never grow out of the teeny, tiny internet shows that have 5 listeners and break into the world of satellite, major market AM and FM, and super successful internet stations that could have over 100,000 listeners hanging on your every word.

What do you think would happen if you were able to get in front of 250,000 listeners and really nail a grand slam style interview?  It IS possible, and it’s not even that hard!  In fact, just this morning, I interviewed a dream analyst on my show and before the next song finished, 5 staff members in my own office had already gone and checked out the guy’s website!  Imagine how many of my listeners did the same thing.

So where do you practice interviews?

Most people never get the chance to practice their interviews or receive feedback from an industry professional.  Honestly, I think most people would rather have a root canal than sit back and listen to every painful ummm-ahhhh moment in their own interviews.

And guess what…even I needed guidance while building up my show. Yes, I’ve had programmers rip apart my radio show…but it was all for the good of making me better. In fact most great radio hosts have coaches who regularly coach them.

I share this so you can understand being great on the radio is not an easy thing…but with a few tricks, a patient coach, and some practice, you can make it to the TOP of the interview guest lists.

It’s too bad most people think that after they get booked all they need to do is show up. Booking an interview is just the beginning!

Join the ON-Air-Publicity Media Training Program. From the comfort of your own home or office, you can learn the insider’s techniques and become a favorite guest on radio shows worldwide.  No waiting at the airport, no hotel stay, no cabs – just a phone and the internet…that’s all you’ll need.  If you are calling from oversees, you can even use Skype and the call won’t cost you one penny.

In just three weeks, you’ll have all the pieces you need to give great interviews for the rest of your life!!! You’ll never spend money on media training again.
