I will be completely honest with you…and it may hurt a bit but you have to know. Most radio shows hate interviewing authors. Why? Because many authors don’t understand they are more than the author of a book, they are an expert in their topic…who was so brilliant, they wrote the book.

Today on my radio show “The Wayne and Jayne Show with Whitney Deane” I had a guest on to talk about coffee. (As a morning radio guy I survive on coffee – so when I see a topic on how to make coffee better or how to make fancy drinks for only pennies I am interested.)

The problem was, all the guest wanted to do was sell her book. After only 2 minutes I dumped her as fast as I could. Off air, I was courteous but then she asked me to offer a special deal on a coffee maker of $972 to my listeners!!! A special deal for listeners she said. What am I, an infomercial?

If you are an author, please do yourself a favor and rush to order my book “The Insiders Guide to Fre.e Publicity – Everything you need to know about getting radio publicity”. If only someone had told this lady about not selling on the air, it could have been a great topic…and now she’s banned from my show for life…I don’t care how many more books she writes.
