From the radio to a magazine cover

Getting featured in the media isn't rocket science. It just takes a little imagination. I decided that it would be very cool to be featured in a business magazine. The story is I am a radio guy who lives his passion, coaching media clients from all over the world from a small ski town in BC, Canada.

So I emailed the editor of Kootenay Business with an introduction and an idea for a photo op of me in a Kayak on one of our glorious lakes in a business suit working on my laptop. The new home office for infopreneurs. I sent it and never heard back for a month.

Then out of the blue, they called and said they want to do a lifestyle story and asked if I would be interested in a photoshoot. I said yes but it was a little cold for the kayak, let's do it with my mountain bike and some golf clubs.

As you can see below, the idea worked, and the editor liked it.

I didn't hire a PR firm, I didn't send 5 pages of information, I don't know anyone at the magazine, I just sent a quick email with an idea. It works.
