Media Moves at the Speed of Sound (almost)

AS a radio host, I am shocked at the speed HOT TOPICS come and go in 2018. It seems many news outlets and radio shows jump on one topic – it is absolutely everywhere. It's on the news – shared on social media – you hear about it on your drive to work – or maybe after work while listening to radio driving your kids to soccer.

And then just as fast – the topic disappears – and the next day it's an entirely NEW hot topic.

In today's media world – speed matters.
My Publicity friend Joan Stewart shared an example of how many different professionals can jump on the publicity band wagon and get interviewed on radio TV or print media in a very quick time.

Often, the first to pitch media – gets the interview.
In her blog today she talks about condom snorting.

YUP – it's a thing! The latest "trendy" thing to do among bored young people.
BUT if you think their stupidity has hit another low – their parent probably stared this back in the 90's!
YES, The 90's is when this actually started.

The only saving grace for most of us in the 90's is we didn't have social media. (But that's another blog)

Joan identified 8 groups that could get free publicity on this topic – a few of them are:

1. Doctors, nurses, clinics and health care professionals.

2. Parenting experts

3. Therapists and psychologists

4. Poison control centers

I share this info because you need to understand there are many ways to cover a story. Positively or Negatively – BUT don't wait. In a few days, we'll move on to the next idiotic ways of the human race.
