Don't Piss Off The Media

Most musicians, actors and promoters understand radio is the easiest and quickest way to reach consumers and make a great impression.

I notice a ton of Country Songs talk about driving and listening to the radio in the lyrics.

These songs about radio are no accident.

I’m sure it’s a marketing ploy to get more radio air play. And if you watch awards shows, many thank radio for playing their songs.

So this is all getting on the good side of radio.

What if you get on the bad side of radio?

I saw it happen last week on a radio insider group website I belong to. A top-name producer shared a podcast where a comedian went off on a rant about a San Diego radio team…saying she has tremendous “disdain” for morning radio.

This was a comedian who uses radio to promote her shows in cities across America.

Well the backlash from this really surprised me.  On the site I belong to, radio hosts and producers of shows with HUGE listenership (over 250,000 listeners) were saying they weren’t going to have her back on EVER to promote her show!

One Radio host from Miami mentioned that she was just on his radio show a couple weeks ago because her ticket sales weren't going very well and he helped her out.

BUT after hearing this podcast of her slamming radio said she if she ever calls back he would say no to having her on to save her the agony of being on morning radio.

I bet there are close to 1000 radio hosts and producers who saw this post…and who all feel the same way about this comedian now.

YIKES!  Just goes to show…never say anything bad about anybody even on a podcast because someone will know someone and share it with the world on social media!
