February Interview "Hot Topics" for Radio Guests

If you are looking to get an interview with Radio or TV – piggybacking off a story is always the easiest way. If you can talk about any of the topics listed below – you have a great chance of being interviewed by your local media.

Now before we dive in to February – let's recap January.

When we look back over the first month of January – the obvious interview choices for radio and TV were:
Motivational Experts – helping us succeed with our resolutions
Motivational Experts – who say you should never start a year with a resolution
Fitness Experts (Start the year healthy)
Money Experts (Start the year with a money plan)
Nutrition Experts (3 easy ways to eat right and not be a big loser who fails by Jan 15th LOL OK that’s harsh but it grabs your attention doesn’t it?)
Health Experts (Have the best year ever)
Happiness Experts (Helping us survive the dreariest day of the year – the 3rd Monday of January)

And take a guess how many people within a 100 mile radius pitched my show for any of these easy topics?
Come on…pick a number…

ONE!!!!

Yup, only 1 person – and she’s a Naturopathic Dr!

Dr. Diana Draper pitched me 5 simple changes you can make in your diet to feel better in 2018. This interview went so well that she was invited back for a series.

She is now a guest on our show every second Tuesday.

We are discussing: the 5 biggest health myths, cold and flu remedies, and coming up this Tuesday we discuss picky eaters – (It was a parent question.)

So why am I telling you all this? Why does this matter to you?

BECAUSE – LOCAL experts get booked for interviews on LOCAL radio stations! AND If I wasn’t being pitched – I bet a ton of other radio hosts weren’t being pitched. And that means HUGE opportunity for you!!!

So here’s a few Interview Ideas for you to pitch media this Month:

The BIG topic for this week is SUPERBOWL – if you have anything to discuss about this topic re: food, relationships, family, in-laws, family fights, anything at all – it’s an easy topic to book this week.

I think my absolute favorite topic for the month of Feb will be: International Flirting Week: 12-18 (Week of Valentine’s Day) This could be the hottest topic with all the #MeToo stories in the last couple of months…how do you even flirt or show you are interested without crossing a line and getting yourself in hot water???

Here are a few other HOT INTERVIEW IDEAS:

February is the month of LOVE! Valentine’s Day is coming up…how can you reconnect couples? This is the perfect month for relationship experts! Help couples re-connect! How can couples re-connect if they have young kids? How can they re-connect if the kids have gone to college and they are now empty nesters?

How about an ANTI-Valentines topic for a dating coach? I bet many singles DREAD this crappy day of love – always remember you can either talk for or against any of these topics.

February is Relationship Wellness Month – and radio shows in every city and town in North America are looking for guests on this topic! Another hot idea for relationship Wellness is how to repair your relationship if you screw up Valentine’s Day!

American Heart Month – Perfect for Doctors, Health experts, or Nutritionists. What do you need to share about heart health?

Dog Training Education Month – A perfect topic for any dog trainer. What is the #1 thing you wish all dog owners knew?

Boost Self-Esteem Month & Expect Success Month – These topics are perfect for motivational experts. We just had our Bell Let’s Talk Day in Canada which is focusing on mental health.

National Care About Your Indoor Air Month – Perfect topic for furnace companies…how often do you check your filters in your furnace? Teach us about it…and share some of the worst stories you’ve seen. It’s for your health…so you know TV shows will be all over this!

And finally, here are 4 weekly Hot Topics:

Dump Your Significant Jerk Week: (Always the week before Valentine’s Day)
National Marriage Week: 7-14
Celebration of Love Week: 12-18 (Second Full Week)
Random Acts of Kindness Week: 12-18 (Second Full Week)
