Is Social Media a Place to pitch Media Shows?

YES! And I can tell you it works beautifully when done right! Around 2 months ago Kathryn reached out to be my friend on twitter linked in and FB. She followed me and then introduced herself as an advocate of children's healthy eating.

She never pitched or asked to be on my show. She simply let me know what she did…and would comment on some of my posts.

Of course one day I saw her posts about healthy eating and I invited her to do a show about the foods we should have in our homes around our kids at Christmas.

She was a great interview and so I invited her back on the show to discuss life lessons she learned while skiing. (Being in a ski resort – this topic was a no brainer for my radio show.)

The worst thing you can do is become my friend and then pitch me your topic. I think you've had someone be your friend and then instantly request that you like their page. It's annoying…so don't do it.

I think Kathryn did everything right. Now go find me on social media! Wayne Kelly the Radio Guy on FB, Twitter and Linked-In.
