The #1 place to Market if you are a Local Author

Your local radio station! (and Newspaper) I'm baffled that people don't know they can pick up the phone and being local I will almost always put them on to help them out and it won't cost them a dime!

This week I reached out to the CEO of a local printing company and asked if they have many locals printing books.

She said YES.

And then asked if we could do coffee because a local lady was having trouble selling her kids book series and maybe I had some ideas.

I laughed and said yes I might have some ideas….Idea #1 How about not keeping these books the best kept secret.

I know who the author is (she actually taught my daughter in elementary school). I wonder how many of her students are now young mom's who would love to support her and buy her book? I can almost guarantee LOTS!

Here's another great real life example. Last year a book was released by a local who had 150 other locals share stories about our hometown. Do you think this would be a hot topic for my radio show?

OF COURSE!!!

Everyone knows someone who wrote a story for this book.

So he came on and we discussed his book for 5 minutes….what it's about, how it came to be and the he shared a couple stories. That's it.

The next day I ran into him in the mall and he came running over and shook my hand saying he can't believe many people are saying they heard him on the radio….and that the local bookstores all called him because they sold out after the interview and wanted to order more books.

I can talk to anyone on the planet but my preference is a local. Because it almost always works out for the best because people know them…and they love hearing people they know on the air.

So in closing, please contact your local media if you have released a book…chances are they'll put you on without even a second guess!
